ABB Switzerland and Swisslog will together install a new AutoStore warehouse system in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The new system is to combine two existing warehouses for low-voltage systems and will go into operation in February 2015.
Compared to conventional systems AutoStore can almost double the amount of goods stored on the same floor space. ABB’s installation will consist of 10,300 storage bins that are being moved and brought to 2 picking stations (called Ports) by 7 autonomous robots.
Before deciding for AutoStore ABB Switzerland compared a range of different storage system, but in the end AutoStore came out on top because it could best utilize ABB’s existing warehouse space.
“We are very excited to expand our excellent cooperation with ABB through this project,”
says Daniel Hauser, Managing Director of Swisslog in Switzerland, in reference to the order received from the power and automation technology leader.
